Something to Write About

Suppose somebody told you you're ugly, how would you react? Well I know how I would react, I would feel a little pinch inside that would tell me, "Oooch that hurts". But what would happen after?

That is the point of interest for me. A lot of times when people say mean things to us, whether it is true or not, it hurts. And it could stop there, but we often let it linger and go into our subconscious. And although we are not pondering about it consciously, it is there, in the background of our minds, growing from the initial seed that was planted. This is where we begin to bully our own self. We become our own critic and tear down ourselves. The thought could not have gone so far if we didn't believe it was true.

They have a saying in Jamaica, 'belief kills and belief cures'. I don't know if you've ever heard it. But it is so true. What ever you believe your conscious and unconscious mind acts on it, and that in turn informs your actions, behaviours and attitudes.

So watch what gets in people! And if something does get in that hurts, write about it and get it out.

Never Give Up!

Life can be a chore. Sometimes it gets exciting, and you get hopeful. But sometimes it crashes, like a torpedo taking a dive, and you feel like, well, crap. These ups and downs of life are really based on our feelings. Feelings change everyday, many times. To determine that your life is a failure or success based on your feelings is therefore unreliable and dangerous. Why? We go through so many things everyday. Some things are bad and some things are good. If every time you feel bad about something, you become hopeless and sink into despair, you are putting your whole life at risk, over a moment in time. And conversely, if you have something great going on now and you feel good and make decisions on how you feel, even though you might be happy now, those decisions might make you unhappy later. Never make decisions on your feelings. I know this now, because I have made the mistakes and I have gotten so low in my feelings that I have actually attempted suicide more than once. Don...
Advice for Freelancers! Hello again! I hope this new post finds you in good health and much peace of mind. I know how difficult it can be to try to establish yourself in a new market or even to try anything new. It is always good to start with advice, especially from people who were actually in your position and have done well for themselves. I think advice is especially useful for freelancers or those wanting to be. There are quite a number of people trying to make a living from freelancing. It is quite competitive, so standing out is crucial to getting good business. An acquaintance of mine, Alejandra, recommended a must read for freelancers. I find the information practical and helpful. Maybe it can help you too. If you think you want some advice on being a freelancer, advice that is easy to follow and practical, have a look at, "Ultimate Guide to Being a Freelancer" by Bethany Carl. A Reason to Believe in Jesus By KLS Stephenson Every religion has a deity, if not more than one. But the only religions with a saviour, comes from the same source: Judaism and Christianity. While the Christians have accepted the coming of Jesus Christ and are awaiting his return, the Jews are still waiting for Jesus’ ‘first’ appearance and deliverance from their ‘wilderness’ journey. But, should we all believe in Jesus? Does it make any sense? If you are a Christian, the answer would be plain. But let’s consider the possibility that you aren’t or you are a skeptic. Let’s look at a reason the world needs a saviour. I want you to be honest with yourself. Take a deep breath and look at the world we live in. Inhale it; the violence, the pollution, the wanton disregard and destruction of all life on our planet. Let the mayhem seep into your bones, and take a moment and think about this. Is the direction that the world has taken something to look forward to? Are things getti...
