Hello!
Writing is a process. Let's start with the first step; deciding what to write about and making an outline.
What's an outline? A plan to gide you to composing your first draft or the first time you will write a piece (of description, in this case).
So let's find a suitable topic. How about, 'A Flower'? Remember the first skill in description is naming the subject. So, what could we write about a flower? Let's jot down the ideas.
Its colour/color,
what type of flower it is,
where it originates from,
its scent, height,
what bugs feed on it,
where in the world can it be found,
how to plant it.
And these are all factual information. However, you could get personal/subjective and note things such as:
how the flower makes you feel,
what it reminds you of, what
it symbolises,
Or you could get philosophical and think about:
lessons the flower reminds you of,
moral/rhetoric associated with that flower,
any profound relaization that observing this flower has caused you to think about.
Now you try this Activity:
Generate some ideas about the following topics for practice.
1). The Waves at Sea
2). The Beautiful One
3). Fishing in a River
4). Lost at Sea
5). Dancing in the City
We'll continue in the next lesson.
Cheers to Writing
