A
Reason to Believe in Jesus
By KLS Stephenson
Every religion has a deity, if not more than one. But the only religions with a saviour, comes from the same source: Judaism and Christianity. While the Christians have accepted the coming of Jesus Christ and are awaiting his return, the Jews are still waiting for Jesus’ ‘first’ appearance and deliverance from their ‘wilderness’ journey. But, should we all believe in Jesus? Does it make any sense?
If you are a Christian, the answer would be plain. But let’s consider the possibility that you aren’t or you are a skeptic. Let’s look at a reason the world needs a saviour. I want you to be honest with yourself. Take a deep breath and look at the world we live in. Inhale it; the violence, the pollution, the wanton disregard and destruction of all life on our planet. Let the mayhem seep into your bones, and take a moment and think about this. Is the direction that the world has taken something to look forward to? Are things getting any better or worse?
Our
world leaders have been trying to solve our problems here on earth, sometimes
to the point of war. What do they have to show for all their meetings and peace
talks and plans? Crime rates continue to soar, diseases continue to ravish
populations, the poor suffer more and more every day, and the earth is dying.
We are getting nowhere. If we cannot come up with the solution to our own
problems, how can we save ourselves or earth for that matter? We can’t even
help ourselves now, when will we get it together to do so?
We need help. And not just any help, we need help that is
not from among us, but from someone more knowledgeable than us. And we can’t
get a quick fix, because the damage to the earth is done and cannot be reversed
in its present state. We need a fresh start, but not with everyone here. Not
everyone means the world good. So who should get the chance to start over? Who
decides? That’s why it makes sense that the help we get is not from among us
and the criteria cannot come from us either, who is going to be fair if their
life is at stake?
